Welcome

lighthouseThe Berwick Film and Media Arts Festival is a celebration of world-class contemporary film and art, set in a number of unique locations reflecting the rich historical and architectural heritage of England’s most northerly town.

Our philosophy is distinctive, in that it draws together the work of both mainstream and independent filmmakers, together with artist film and video practitioners.

Since 2005 we have shown the work of over 200 filmmakers and artists, which has included over 20 UK and European premiers and a number of works and installations that have shown outside of London for the first time.

The main Festival is a biennale, which takes place over a nine-day period in September. During the alternate years a smaller scale Mini-Fest takes place over 3 days in late November.

The next edition of the Minifest will take place in 2008 with the main Festival scheduled for 2009. To find out more about the programmes of the previous editions of the Festival, visit this page or click one of the links opposite.
