Welcome to the fifth Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival.
The party runs all weekend, with special events, receptions and screenings at the beautifully refurbished Maltings Theatre & Arts Centre, and a series of artists’ video installations in various unique locations around the town.
In Drawing the Lines, this year’s Festival celebrates the representation of architecture and space on screen. In our exploration of the individual’s relationship with the built environment, we journey to the cinematic city in all its guises, from Japan’s capital in our world premiere of Tokyo is Dreaming, to New York in Jem Cohen’s Lost Book Found, up to Glasgow for the documentary Sighthill Stories and to the future in Woody Allen’s classic Sleeper.
We invite you to come and celebrate with us on Friday night for the Opening Gala screening of the stunning drama Ballast, on Saturday afternoon at the Gymnasium Gallery reception for Angus Boulton’s Architecture of Cinema and Sport and that same evening for our Special Silent Film Event, Sherlock Jr., with a brand new musical score.
We look forward to seeing you here (and there).
