The 7th Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival got off to the best possible start with an incredibly well-received Opening Gala, starting with a welcome from Chair of the Board Huw Davies, an introduction to the programme from Director Melanie Iredale, and a few words from Councillor Alan Bowlas who has attended each of the previous six editions, and declared the 7th Festival officially open.

Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival are delighted to confirm today that Arts Council England have committed their financial support for the artistic programme and new commissions as part of the forthcoming Festival; Friday 23 – Sunday 25 September.

Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival are over the moon after this morning’s announcement that their bid to the Arts Council for funding over three years, 2012 – 2015, has been successful.

This weekend saw the Screen Machine, an 80 seat cinema in a lorry roll into the to the Border towns of Duns, Coldstream and Eyemouth. The aim of the screen machine was to bring film to the Borders as part of the 6th annual Berwick Film Festival. The festival runs from Wednesday the 15th September to Sunday 19th September 2010.

The 6th Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival is now open for commission proposals in two categories; ‘Artists’ Moving Image’ for an artist or film-maker to make a new piece of moving image work, and ‘Film Score’ for a musician or composer to write and perform a new soundtrack to an existing film or films of their choice.

The Berwickshire mini fest of films has today released details of what the public can look forward to come July. The mobile screen machine, an 80-seat modern mobile cinema with a state of the art 3D digital projection and Dolby surround sound will be in the Borders from the 9th to 11th July, moving between Coldstream and Eyemouth and stopping off at Duns in between.
