Award nominated!

Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival is delighted to announce that it has been short-listed for a Journal Culture Award in the ‘Best Event Northumberland’ category.

The Awards, which take place on 28th March, seek to celebrate cultural and creative events in the region. Last year’s Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival, entitled Stagings, ran in September 2010, with a range of films, video installations, performances, and commissions in various different locations across Berwick upon Tweed. The event, which marked the 6th edition, attracted 6,000 people to England’s most northern town, and is considered to be the most successful to date.

The Festival has been nominated for Best Event Northumberland alongside the Extraordinary Measures exhibition at Belsay Hall and the Lighting Hadrian’s Wall event, and will be judged by a panel of regional cultural leaders.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be nominated” said Festival Director Melanie Iredale, “It’s an honour to be short-listed alongside other such prestigious events, and really is a testament to the hard work of our staff and volunteers and the support of a great many funders, artists and audiences.”

The Festival, which was supported by the Arts Council, Northern Film & Media, Northumberland County Council and numerous others, is set to return to Berwick-upon-Tweed Friday 23 – Sunday 25 September 2011.
